Make accessing your data platform independent. With web services, your processes can be converted to an API (application programming interface) model to access the database. The API is then published and documented. The code base stays in house. User interfaces then access the web service via the network. An API model is more secure because the data now has only one way in and one way out...

The API generator is a custom tool developed by WaveRight. Its purpose is to generate object oriented abstraction layers to relational databases. One component probes the specified database(s) for metadata and uses an XML document for configuration. Once options are set, another component uses templates to generate the source files. The generated source code can be SOAP compliant.
